How To Make 2020 Your Best Year Yet

Hope Watson

1. Set goals and create a plan to achieve them.

Without goals, we as human beings will lead a pointless life. Goals allow us to visualize what we want and enact a plan in order to get it.

Start by categorizing important areas of your life that you want to improve on or advance in. Then, start to be more specific about what it is you want to achieve in life.

I’ve written a blog about how to set SMART goals, and I’m sure that it can help you create a list of a few goals that you want to accomplish in this upcoming year and decade.

2. Make time for family and friends.

It can be easy to entrap yourself in work these days. We have a very poor understanding of work/home balance, especially with the incorporation of technology in our lives.

It’s important that you consciously make an effort to allocate time for the ones you love. Money, fame, recognition, or whatever else you seek out can always wait when it comes to spending that extra hour with your partner, friend, child, or so on.

In 2020, I encourage you to make time for the people in your life that make it worth living; after all, human connection is what makes life so special.

3. Stay organized.

With the hustle and bustle of work, family, social lives, and everything else that you have going on in your life, it can be difficult to stay organized in all of the chaos.

I would suggest that you take advantage of all the technology that you have access to and let it help you organize your life in a way that maybe you didn’t for the past few years.

Utilize things like Google Calendar, Notes App, Evernote, Excel, or any of the other platforms and systems that you can likely find on your computer, phone, or tablet.

Create an organizational system that takes some stress off of you in your daily life and use it to your business and personal advantage!

I suggest starting with time-blocking and an online planner for events and tasks; it’s absolutely lifechanging.

4. Challenge yourself daily.

In 2020, we won’t limit ourselves to what we “think” we are capable of! Push yourself past the boundaries that you’ve previously succumb to, and then go further.

Too often, we think too lowly of what we can do. Make this the year that you challenge yourself on a daily basis.

Whether it be as simple as getting up an hour earlier than normal or maybe traveling to a place you’ve never been before.

Remember that the mere way that the human body gains muscle is by being challenged, and the same goes for any obstacle you face in life.

Challenge every area of your life, and you’ll be shocked at how much you grow.

5. Give back to your community.

Regardless of if you do this by donating your time, money, or resources, 2020 should be the year that we all start to contribute to the community that gives us a home.

Go out to your local shelters, churches, or even schools and give back to them! Volunteering is such a powerful way to not only change the lives of others, but also yourself.

It gives you a chance to put your own life in perspective, so make time for this in 2020.

6. Don’t forget to take care of yourself.

Life is only as great as you make it, and if you don’t take care of yourself in the process, it can be really damaging to your mental and physical health.

Taking care of yourself by exercising, eating well, and making time to reflect on your life are key factors in creating the life that you want.

You only have one body, one mind, and one life, so I encourage you to go beyond what you’ve done in the past and give yourself the chance to improve in all areas.

Self-care is becoming an increasingly talked about topic for a reason. If you feel stressed about work, take a moment to give yourself a break. No problem is worth your health.

With these tips in mind, I’m confident that you can make this year your best one yet. Good luck, and Happy New Year!
