As we’re coming up on May (which already sounds surreal), it’s that time again to start planning for the next month. Whether you’re a big planner or you’re just getting into it, this post will give you an easy-to-follow guide for starting a new month off right.
1. Start with your goals.
The best way to start off your monthly reset and planning is by sitting down to think about your goals. My favorite way to do this is to grab a journal (here's my favorite one at the moment!) and write out the following categories:
Health
Personal
Career/Aspirations
Once you’ve got your categories, write down 3 smaller goals under each section. For example, 3 health goals you might have would be something like...
Follow a new plant based diet
Workout 4 times per week, 30 min per session
Spend at least 30 minutes outside per day
By doing this, you’re going to give yourself practical ways to reach your goals!
2. Make a plan.
Now that you have your goals, you need a plan. A goal is pretty much just words unless you put some action behind it. For this, I would suggest looking at how you can work towards your goals on a daily or weekly basis and schedule time to do so.
I’ve talked about time blocking before and how massively helpful it’s been for me, and this is the perfect opportunity for you to try it out!
Start with scheduling 30 minutes per day to work towards on of your goals. Block out a time in your calendar to do this, and even set reminders or alarms if you need more motivation. (Check out this cool timer! I use it to track my 30 minute sessions).
3. Write down and schedule in events.
You know that feeling you get when you think you have something to do but you’re just not sure? Have you ever missed an event or an appointment because you simply forgot it was happening?
We’ve honestly all been there, and that’s why it’s so important to write down and schedule all the events you can think of for the month ahead of time!
4. Declutter your space.
There’s nothing worse than feeling like your space, your home, or your office is just messy and unorganized. Having a space that doesn’t support your productivity will NOT help you succeed in the new month.
So, take time before the next month to clean up your environment! Also, here are some of my favorite productivity tools that you can start incorporating into your place! :)
5. Get your finances in order.
Last but certainly not least, you need to get your finances in order for the next month. There’s a super simple 3 step process I like to go through when I need to do a financial reset at the beginning of a new month.
Here’s what you should do:
Review last month’s expenses and purchases
Identify your financial goals
Create a new budget based on what’s realistic for you
I really hope that this helps you get on track with your goals and ambitions at the start of this next month! Let’s crush it! :)
