7 Steps to Prepare Your Home (and Yourself) for the Spring Selling Season

Spring is just around the corner, and many people are considering listing their home as the months get a tad warmer.

If this is you, I’ve compiled seven steps to prepping your home for selling season this year, so let’s get into it!

1. Start with a thorough declutter.

This is one of the simplest yet hardest tasks of this list. Declutter every room until you’re satisfied with the result.

Your goal is to have a space that is free from clutter and disorganization, as these are the homes that will sell faster (especially if you will be living in the home while it is on the market).

2. Deep clean your home.

After you’ve effectively decluttered your space, you will need to give it a deep clean.

Every nook and cranny should be cleaned so that when people go in to see your home, they are refreshed by a clean space!

Just so you know, this also includes smells or any odors that might be in your home. Light a faint smelling candle or use air freshener to remove anything that isn’t pleasing.

3. Create a presentable exterior.

Pick up any weeds, trim overgrown landscaping, and don’t forget your gutters!

The outside of your home will leave a lasting impression on a potential buyer.

4. Prioritize a simple and organized environment.

It’s important that you keep your space simplistic. If you overcrowd it with furniture, your home will appear smaller than it is.

Keeping it organized will also aid your future buyer by making their showings that much better.

5. Prepare all personal documents.

If you have any documents you need to prepare before selling your home, now is the time to do so.

If you’re moving before the home sells, you will also need to get that prepped as well.

Think of any last-minute tasks that you can wrap up and get them done!

6. Mentally prep yourself for selling the home.

There is a mental toll when you sell your home if you are attached to it.

You will need to mentally prepare yourself for selling your home, and you can go about that in any way you please.

7. Find an agent (like myself) to represent you!

The last step to prepping your home for spring selling season is to find an agent to represent you!

Agents will be able to make the home selling process much easier, so I promise you it’ll be worth it.

That’s all for today, but I hope you enjoyed this blog post! I’ll be back next week with more information on real estate, business, and motivational advice. Thanks for reading!
