6 Tips to Styling Your Home on a Budget

If you’re on a budget but want your home to feel like you aren’t, here are some ways that you can use simple décor to add a stylistic touch to any space.

1. Thrift items to DIY yourself

Your local thrift store or swap meet might have the answers you are looking for! Sometimes, you can walk in and find exactly what you’re looking for. If that ends up being the case, then that’s amazing!

But other times, you might find yourself needing to make some adjustments to the items you find. Luckily, there are countless DIY projects that you can start up with all the know-how at your fingertips.

If you’re interested in starting a little DIY project yourself, YouTube and Pinterest are great places to look for some inspiration.

2. Use nature

Bringing plants and other nature-based items into your home instantly makes the environment feel different.

Whether it be for the classy and homey feel plants bring or for the air purifying advantages, bringing plants into your home is the perfect way to increase the style of a space without having to spend too much.

And if you want more plants? Propagation! It is essentially creating more plants from the plants you already have. It’s a little pro-tip for those of you who fall into the plant parent trap like I did!

3. Keep it simple - Less is more

I find that sometimes, people think that they need to have a ton of décor pieces in order to make their home look more expensive in taste.

Well, that’s actually seen to be the opposite! At the end of the day, it all depends on the style that you like, but sticking with a more minimal design in your home might actually make your space feel more high-end (if that’s the vibe you’re going for!)

Less is more when it comes to décor. Stick with a similar color palette as well – this will assure that everything stays tied in together.

4. Add modern and traditional touches

If you only go for a modern design, you might miss out on the homey feel! Fix this by incorporating elements of modern and traditional design.

This is another inexpensive way to make your home look more expensive because chances are you already have everything you need! It’s all about curating a space that speaks to the modern style while still having character that’s your own.

5. Utilize art

Bring in the element of design to your home and increase its style at the same time! You can even support your local artists by buying their prints to add some more unique art pieces.

Art also brings a room to life by adding color and compliments to your décor as well. If you’re feeling up to it and a bit on the creative side, you can create some art yourself too!

6. Get rid of clutter

If your space is clean, it will naturally feel more styled. Having clutter around your home will only take away from any elements of design that are there to begin with.

My biggest suggestion here is to invest in bins and baskets of different sizes that look presentable enough to be left out and about your home.

These are the perfect way for you to collect any clutter and store it away for later use. Plus, these baskets and bins also add some useful décor to your rooms!

You can find them at most thrift stores as well as at some discount stores near you like Ross or TJ Max.

I hope that this inspires you to spruce up your space without having to break the bank! At the end of the day, creating a space that you feel comfortable and at home in is key. Find the style you love and know that there are ways to help you achieve it reasonably! Good luck everyone!
